Encrypted document vault: why IDs and certificates need zero-knowledge storage

Aadhaar scans, insurance PDFs, and degree certificates often land in generic cloud folders. Those apps are convenient — and they can usually read what you upload. For papers that prove who you are, that is the wrong trust model.

1Vault, built by Artista Solutions, encrypts files and metadata (names, tags, notes) on the device before anything is sent. The server stores ciphertext. Staff cannot open your vault even if asked.

What “zero-knowledge” means in practice

  • Keys stay with you — password and recovery code, not a master key on our servers
  • Biometric unlock is local after the first password unlock on that phone
  • Lose both password and recovery code, and nobody can restore the vault — by design
